I don’t think he’s really forgiven himself for abandoning his friends, and he made the discovery soon after that he’d do a lot to protect others. There are a lot of people who would have left Manea to her fate. (After all, she probably can’t die, and Hades is a powerful Greek god.) Rick, however, is not one of those people.
