This current storyline really brings up a couple questions for me.
If Carrie’s a magical girl because she inherited it from Joan, does that mean Joan and Rick’s mother was also a magical girl?
Since Rick’s family is so magical, and considering Dick can use magic, could Rick use magic too or is his only magic being a magical key?
Unrelated: I love Baba in this comic. Or, well, all of them really. She’s great.
I definitely can’t answer that first question. I sort of see Carrie as the star of an anime we never get to see, so we’ll probably see things like that as she uncovers them
As for Rick, and I do feel fine saying this because I think it’s been implied but not explicit for a while, he can totally use magic! He just doesn’t realize it, and maybe even has a mental block about it. A hint about that is that Dick can use magic, and his mind is notoriously open.
